Hi! I'm Elliott.

My name is Elliott Farris. I’m a Texas native currently livi I offer therapy to individuals, couples, teens, and men seeking hope and growth through life’s challenges. My path to counseling has been shaped by both personal and professional experience—starting in athletics, moving through the world of coaching and business, and eventually leading me to the work I believe I was made for: walking alongside people in their most human moments.

I work with couples longing for deeper emotional connection, men facing struggles with pornography or hidden shame, teens under performance pressure, and individuals wrestling with anxiety, grief, or spiritual questions. I also have a special interest in athletes, high-performers, and those navigating life transitions with quiet distress. My approach is trauma-informed, emotionally attuned, and rooted in models like Emotion-Focused Therapy, IFS, and performance psychology. When clients desire, I integrate faith into the counseling process in a way that is natural, non-judgmental, and supportive.

I bring a calm, steady presence to the therapy room. My style is reflective and warm—yet honest and direct when needed. I want you to feel like you can exhale, take your time, and share your story fully. Counseling with me isn’t rushed or pre-scripted—it’s collaborative, client-led, and built on real trust. If you’re looking for someone to help you connect the dots, find your footing, and move forward with integrity, I’d be honored to work with you.

...on a more personal note

Outside of counseling, I enjoy an active and well-rounded life. I’m a lifelong runner and former collegiate track athlete, and I still love getting outside to cycle, ski, or just go for a long walk—especially if there’s no phone involved. I’m also a fan of coffee, cooking, playing guitar, and digging into a good book (especially Les Misérables). I’m married to my incredible wife, Caroline, and together we value time with our church community, being with friends, and doing the occasional missions trip. When life feels overwhelming, you’ll probably find me near a river with a fishing rod in hand.

I provide attachment focused counseling on a private pay basis and do not accept insurance. A credit or debit card (including HSA cards) must be on file prior to your first appointment and will be automatically charged at the time of each session. I do provide superbills and good faith estimates.

Superbills for Out-of-Network Insurance Benefits

It is important to know that I do not accept insurance. I do offer superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. A superbill is an itemized statement of services that includes all the information an insurance company would need to set me up as an out-of-network provider as well as the type of service you were provided (psychotherapy), fees paid, and your diagnosis. Essentially you pay for therapy at the time of service, submit an itemized statement of fees paid, and, if you are eligible, your insurance company reimburses you after deductibles are met.

Good Faith Estimates

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your therapeutic services will cost. Under the No Surprises Act, enacted in 2022, health care providers must give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.

Adults

Many of the adults I work with come in feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of who they are outside of the roles they play. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, stress, anger, stress, relationship issues, grief, trauma, addiction, or questions of faith and identity, I’ll meet you with quiet curiosity, compassion, and calm. My work with adults —men and women—often includes exploring emotional patterns, building insight, and reconnecting with values and purpose. If you’re looking for a place to be fully heard, to wrestle with hard questions, and to grow toward healing at your own pace, I’d be honored to walk with you and be your encourager.

Couples

I work with couples who want to communicate better, reconnect emotionally, or find a path forward through conflict, betrayal, or disconnection. Whether you’re in a crisis or just feeling stuck, I offer a structured, compassionate approach to healing your relationship. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and  the Gottman Method, I help couples better understand each other’s emotional needs, shift unhelpful patterns, and build a more secure and connected bond. I also offer individual sessions early in the process, because sometimes the most powerful work in our relationships begins within ourselves.

Older Teens

Teenagers today are navigating an intense world—academic pressure, identity formation, social anxiety, performance expectations, and emotional overwhelm. I offer a supportive space for older teens to explore what they’re feeling and who they’re becoming. I work collaboratively with both the teen and the parent when appropriate, helping families build trust, improve communication, and navigate this important season of transition. My approach is warm and nonjudgmental, giving teens the space to be themselves while also helping them gain insight, confidence, and coping tools that serve them well beyond adolescence.

Athletes

As a former college athlete, I understand the mental, emotional, and spiritual weight that comes with high performance—especially when your identity feels wrapped up in the sport, the culture, your future, or how well you compete. I work with new, aspiring and seasoned athletes who are dealing with performance anxiety, burnout, pressure from coaches or family, injury setbacks, or the fear of failure. Whether you’re in the middle of your career, transitioning out of it, or you’re in the early stages, I offer a space to process what’s going on under the surface and reclaim your sense of worth, confidence, and identity beyond the game.

Men

I work with men who are carrying silent burdens—addiction, shame, anger, emotional disconnection, or the pressure to hold it all together, and with men who have been told by someone else to get help. Whether it’s pornography, isolation, relational struggles, spiritual dryness, career stress or burnout or just a deep sense of dissatisfaction, I approach men’s issues with honesty, compassion, and zero judgment. Many men have never had a space where they can be real, vulnerable, or even heard—I want to offer that space. Together, we can work toward healing, growth, and building a life marked by integrity and purpose.

Marriage Counseling in Tucson

Whether you’re navigating ongoing conflict, feeling emotionally disconnected, struggling with communication, or just looking to strengthen your relationship, couples counseling can be a powerful step toward healing and reconnection. I use two well-researched and effective approaches: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which helps couples identify and shift painful emotional patterns that block intimacy, and The Gottman Method, which focuses on practical tools for communication, conflict resolution, and rebuilding trust. Couples often come to therapy when they feel stuck in the same arguments, unsure how to support each other, or distant and unheard. Some couples wait until things are falling apart—but therapy doesn’t have to be a last resort. I encourage couples to reach out early, while there’s still motivation and willingness to grow. My goal is to create a space where both partners feel safe, seen, and supported as they work through challenges and move toward a more connected, resilient relationship—one rooted in understanding, trust, and shared purpose.

For couples who desire to bring their faith into the counseling room, I offer a gentle and meaningful integration of Christian principles throughout our work together. Whether you’re seeking to reconnect spiritually, explore how your beliefs shape your relationship, or simply want a Christ-centered foundation for communication and intimacy, I can help you navigate those conversations with care. We’ll draw from biblical wisdom and practices—like prayer, Scripture, forgiveness, and grace—alongside clinically grounded methods like EFT and Gottman. You won’t find judgment or pressure here, just a compassionate space where faith and therapy come together to support healing, unity, and shared growth. My goal is to help couples not only repair what’s been damaged, but build a relationship that reflects the love and truth of Christ.

Pornography & Sex Addiction

If you’re struggling with pornography or unwanted sexual behaviors, you’re not alone—and you’re not beyond help. These issues often come with deep shame, secrecy, and the fear that opening up will make things worse. But the truth is, freedom is possible, and you don’t have to walk this journey alone. In our work together, we’ll explore the underlying emotional and relational patterns—not just the behaviors themselves—so that healing can take root at the source. You’ll find that this is not a place of judgment or awkwardness, but a space of dignity, clarity, and genuine hope. Whether your values are shaped by faith or simply a desire to live differently, we’ll work with honesty and compassion to build new habits, restore integrity, and move toward freedom and wholeness.

Older Teens

If you’re a high school student feeling overwhelmed by pressure—whether from school, sports, family, or faith—you’re not alone. I work with teens who are navigating anxiety, perfectionism, relational stress, and the tension of living up to expectations while still trying to be themselves. My counseling style is calm, collaborative, and never judgmental—I go at your pace and create a space where you can be honest and feel respected. And while your parents may be the ones getting you through the door, they won’t be the ones deciding what you work on. That’s up to you.

For parents, I see our work as a partnership. Giving your teen a counseling experience that feels like an adult space—where they won’t be micromanaged or over-reported on—is one of the greatest gifts you can offer. I don’t share everything your teen says, so they feel safe opening up, but I will offer you insight and coaching along the way. I want to help you better understand your teen’s inner world and become a safer, more grounded presence in their life.

When it comes to faith, I know this can be important—especially if you’re raising your teen in a Christian home. As a believer myself, I’m grounded in my own faith, but I never force it or make it uncomfortable for teens. If they’re open to integrating Scripture, prayer, or spiritual conversations into our work, I’m glad to meet them there. If they’re not, I respect that fully. You can trust that your teen is in good hands—spiritually and emotionally.

If your family doesn’t identify with the Christian faith, please know that you are fully welcome here. My approach to counseling is grounded in respect, curiosity, and the belief that every client deserves to feel safe, valued, and understood—no matter their beliefs or worldview. While I offer faith integration to clients who request it, I never assume or impose a particular spiritual lens. My goal is to support your teen’s emotional and mental well-being with care that is thoughtful, professional, and tailored to their needs. Whether or not faith is part of your story, your teen will receive the same steady presence and quality care I offer every client.

Later Adulthood

Later adulthood brings its own set of joys, transitions, and challenges. Whether you’re navigating retirement, downsizing, the changing dynamics of long-term relationships, grief and loss, or simply facing questions about meaning, legacy, and faith—I offer a calm, thoughtful space to explore it all. My approach with older adults is marked by deep respect, patience, and curiosity about the stories that have shaped you. I’ll meet you where you are, without rushing or minimizing your experience, and help you clarify what matters most in this season of life. Together, we can work toward healing old wounds, strengthening relationships, and cultivating peace and purpose for the road ahead.

Grief & Loss

Grief can show up in unexpected ways—after the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a dream, or even a sense of purpose. I walk with clients through all kinds of grief, offering space to process pain, name what’s been lost, and begin to move toward healing. Whether your grief is fresh or lingering, whether you’re feeling numb, angry, overwhelmed, or all of the above—I’ll meet you right there, without pressure to “move on” or “get over it.” Together, we’ll explore how loss has shaped you and how you might begin to carry it differently, with more grace, clarity, and hope. I believe healing from grief is possible, and it often starts by being fully seen in it.

Performance Anxiety

Performance anxiety can show up in more places than a stage or a boardroom—it might creep in before a big presentation, a job interview, a social gathering, or even in parenting and relationships. You might feel the pressure to succeed, to be perfect, or to meet someone else’s expectations—and it can be paralyzing. I work with adults who are struggling with the fear of failure, chronic self-doubt, or the internal belief that they are never “enough.” Whether these patterns stem from early life experiences or current stressors, I help clients build awareness of what’s driving their anxiety and learn new ways to respond with confidence, flexibility, and self-compassion.

As a former athlete, I know the unique pressures that come with competitive sports—internal expectations, coaching dynamics, fear of injury, and the mental weight of needing to perform at your peak. For many athletes, anxiety can show up as physical symptoms, burnout, or a sense of losing the love of the game. I help athletes reconnect with their motivation, develop mental strategies for focus and resilience, and address the deeper identity questions that often arise when performance and self-worth get tangled. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, stuck in a performance rut, or preparing for the next level, this work is about cultivating a healthier, stronger mindset—not just for sport, but for life.

If you’re a teen or college student feeling overwhelmed by pressure—whether it’s about grades, friendships, your future, or sports—you’re not alone. So many young people struggle with anxiety around being good enough, making the right choices, or living up to expectations. I create a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. We’ll slow things down, unpack where the pressure is coming from, and help you build confidence in who you are—not just what you do. Together, we’ll work on tools for anxiety and stress, but we’ll also dig into your values and strengths so that you can show up with more clarity, courage, and peace.

Men’s Issues

Men often carry a silent load—feeling pressure to be strong, to keep it together, to avoid vulnerability at all costs. Whether it’s the weight of responsibility, relationship strain, anger that simmers under the surface, or the creeping sense that you’ve lost yourself, it’s not easy to ask for help. But counseling doesn’t have to be intimidating. I offer a calm, nonjudgmental space where you can be honest, feel heard, and start to work through the things that keep you stuck.

I work with men navigating a range of challenges—from anxiety and depression to major life transitions, anger, fatherhood, grief, and identity questions. I also specialize in helping men overcome pornography and sexual addictions, which are often tied to deeper emotional pain, unmet needs, or shame. We’ll explore what’s behind the behavior, without blame or awkwardness, and work toward restoring clarity, integrity, and freedom.

Many men find it hard to express emotions or even identify them. That’s not a weakness—it’s often the result of years of cultural messaging or unmet emotional needs. My approach helps men build emotional insight, communicate more clearly in relationships, and reconnect with purpose and strength. Whether you’re struggling in your marriage, feeling stuck in your career, or wondering why you’re angry all the time, this is a place to figure it out.

If your faith is important to you, I’m glad to incorporate it naturally and respectfully into our work together. Many of the men I work with find that spiritual disconnection or shame related to their beliefs is part of their inner struggle. Together, we can explore how to align your emotional and spiritual life with your values—without pressure, guilt, or legalism. I believe that counseling rooted in grace and truth can be a powerful place for healing and transformation.

Stress/Burnout

When your life feels like an endless to-do list—emails, deadlines, expectations, and responsibilities that never seem to let up—burnout can creep in slowly or hit all at once. For many people, it shows up as exhaustion, irritability, low motivation, or even physical symptoms. You may find yourself stuck in survival mode, going through the motions while feeling emotionally numb or disconnected. Whether you’re managing a demanding job, family obligations, or both, stress doesn’t just affect your productivity—it impacts your relationships, health, and overall sense of meaning.

I work with adults who are burned out, overwhelmed, and wondering how much longer they can keep this up. Some are stuck in jobs that used to fulfill them, or wrestling with questions about calling, purpose, or career transitions. Others are navigating people-pleasing patterns, perfectionism, or difficulty setting healthy boundaries. We’ll slow things down and take a thoughtful look at what’s driving the pressure. Together, we’ll identify what’s no longer sustainable, uncover what you truly value, and build a plan for moving toward greater clarity, rest, and resilience.

Stress isn’t just about work—it can also stem from long-standing patterns of self-neglect, internal criticism, or the belief that rest must be earned. Counseling can help you notice those patterns, challenge them with compassion, and begin practicing a different way of being. If you’re tired of feeling like you’re never enough or always behind, this can be a space to reset.

If you’d like to include your faith in the process, I’ll meet you there with respect and care. Together, we can explore the spiritual roots of exhaustion—like performance-based identity, misplaced worth, or the burden of carrying everything yourself—and rediscover rest in a way that’s both practical and deeply spiritual. There is freedom in knowing that you don’t have to do it all alone.

Christian Counseling

For clients who want to integrate their Christian faith into counseling, I offer a respectful, natural, and spiritually grounded approach. Whether we’re working through addiction, marriage issues, performance anxiety, or emotional struggles, I’m able to incorporate prayer, Scripture, and biblical truth into our sessions when requested. I never force faith into the process or make assumptions about where you stand spiritually—this is your journey, and I follow your lead. There’s no judgment, no religious pressure, and definitely no weirdness—just compassionate, Christ-centered care when that’s something you value and desire. My goal is to create space where faith can be a resource for healing, strength, and restoration, if and when you’re ready for it.
